Sony has released a new free game for PlayStation 4 and 5 called “My First Gran Turismo“, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation brand.
The game aims to revive the experience of playing the first Gran Turismo, released in 1997, when the franchise became popular among players of all generations.
According to Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital, the game seeks to recall the origins of the racing simulator, bringing back the same excitement experienced by the first players of the series.
Although the game is inspired by Gran Turismo 7, released in 2022, “My First Gran Turismo” is a simplified version with fewer cars, tracks, and game modes. Despite this, the title offers a full experience with three circuits (Kyoto Driving Park, Deep Forest Raceway, and Trial Mountain Circuit) and events such as races, time trials, and a musical rally mode. The goal is to provide hours of fun at no cost, as it is completely free for PlayStation consoles.
The game also features license challenges, a classic mode of the franchise where players need to perform perfect maneuvers to achieve the gold level. With 18 iconic cars, such as the Lamborghini Countach and Mazda RX-7, fans can collect and compete.
Available for download on the PlayStation Store starting this month, the game will also be compatible with PS VR2, offering a new layer of immersion with augmented reality.
